历史文化学院下设历史学系，并设有多个科研创新平台和教学实践基地，其中包括与国家民族事务委员会合作成立的“民族理论政策研究基地”，与中华民族文化促进会合作成立的“中华二十四史研究中心”，与广东省人民政府地方志办公室共建的“华南地方史志研究中心”，与华南师范大学文学院共建的广东省普通高校人文社会科学重点研究基地“岭南文化研究中心”，华南师范大学校级研究机构“华南宗教研究中心”，与陕西历史博物馆共建的教育部大学生校外实践基地。此外，学院还设有多个院级研究机构。

School of History and Culture has a Department of History, a number of scientific research and innovation platforms and teaching practice bases, including the Ethnic Theory Policy Research Base jointly established with the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Chinese Twenty-four Histories Research Center jointly established with the Chinese National Culture Promotion Society, South China Local History Research Center jointly established with the Local Chronicles Office of People's Government of Guangdong Province, Lingnan Culture Research Center, the key research base of Humanities and Social Sciences in Universities of Guangdong Province jointly established with the School of Liberal Arts, SCNU, South China Center for Religious Studies, a university-level research institution of SCNU, an off-campus practice base for university students of the Ministry of Education jointly built with Shaanxi History Museum. In addition, School of History and Culture also has a number of school-level research institutions.
