历史学是华南师范大学1933年建校之初最早设立的学科之一。在其早期历程中，杜国庠、罗香林、罗倬汉、唐陶华等老一辈学者为本学科的发展奠定重要基础。改革开放以来，关履权、关文发、曾醒时、陈周棠、谢放、李凭等前辈学者为本学科的进一步发展作出重要贡献。2005年，在历史系的基础上，成立历史文化学院。

History Major, as one of the first undergraduate majors of South China Normal University (SCNU), was established in 1933 when the university was just founded. In the early stage of the History discipline, many distinguished scholars such as Du Guoxiang, Luo Xianglin, Luo Zhuohan and Tang Taohua laid a solid foundation stone for its development. Since Reform and Open Up, scholars such as Guan Liquan, Guan Wenfa, Zeng Xingshi, Chen Zhoutang, Xie Fang and Li Ping constantly made profound contributions to the further development of the discipline. In 2005, on the basis of Department of History, School of History and Culture (SHC) was established.
